Australian mud-slinging protectionism

Australian vegetable industry group AUSVEG is claiming that so-called ‘Product of NZ’ veggies in Australia are actually just routed through our country from China.

They have no proof, but are rather claiming there is a problem in that a loophole exists.

Okay, so some people buy things because they have few airmiles. Some people buy things because they want to support the country of origin, or feel favourably toward it. But most people buy vegetables because it’s what they need and the price suits them at that moment of sale.

Frankly, if the product weighs up, then claiming there’s a problem is just racism.
