Which is the best hangover cure?

Over-the-counter hangover medicine

The most obvious choice. Someone has put all the medicines which could make you feel better in one handy sachet. It’s convenient and quick, assuming you’ve stocked up in advance of the drinking.

Cons:

Availability. The last pharmacist I asked for this cheerfully told me “You do the crime, you do the time.” (Which wasn’t appreciated at that point.)

It’s also not very good for you (like drinking to excess is…). I’d rather save this remedy for extreme emergencies.

The fry-up

Pros:

It’s exactly what you crave. If you get it down, it usually helps.

Cons:

Getting it down. Assuming you have the ingredients and the capacity to cook, you’ve still got to stomach the smell. Or else go to the trouble of getting it all cooked, only to say ‘I just can’t eat it!’.

The café brunch

Pros:

More convenient than doing it yourself. You can choose whatever your stomach can manage in that moment, rather than being constrained by what’s in your cupboard / what you can be bothered to make.

Cons:

You’ve gotta drive there, which in your state is probably not advisable.

Pros:

A great solution!

Cons:

… Assuming you have time.

The home-made smoothie

Pros:

Natural and effective. Feels like you’re actually putting something good back into your body, unlike a chemical cure.

Cons:

The noise of the blender.
