Monte Vecchio cheese

Monte VecchioI promised to tell you about the cheese which was so great with the Wild Wheat kumara sourdough.

It was one of the treasures I carried home from the Festival Italiano. I think this is imported, rather than made in the Italian tradition here, like most of‘s produce.

Monte Vecchio is matured for over 12 months to get the ‘vecchio’ (old) label, putting it in the same category as parmigiano and grano types of cheeses. Not sure where you can buy this regularly, but no doubt the usual farmers markets will yield some results.

A great choice for a Ploughman’s lunch.  🙂
